Hey Guys, Hey Girl,

(ahahah have you seen what I did there? I said Hey Girl. Singular form. Hilarious eh?)

I am working on a relatively complex RPG game, with side quests, interacting NPCs, kick ass monsters, etc.
and currently in the process of designing the battle mechanics.
Without thinking too much, I was just blatantly copying what's already out there.
Why re-invent the wheel, right?

Many games have this battle menu, which includes:
Attack
Magic
Defend
Item
Run away

Obviously, "Defend" means that the player remains passive for his turn but gets a huge defensive bonus by doing so. But clearly, that doesn't make much sense, right? Because if you fight a weaker opponent, you should just crush it right away. If you are facing a stronger enemy that deals more damage than you do, why would you lose a turn defending anyway? You'll have to damage him at one time or another and standing still does not help. At the very least, give it your best shot and heal as soon as you need...

So am I missing something there?
Is the Defend option really useful?

Can you please provide me with some guidance, all of you wise newgrounders?

Any other advice from all RPG fans? Anything that is not "Defend" related but that you want to share or that you want in my RPG?

(pic of the game included. work in progress)

RPG = Attack, Magic, Defend, Run away... herrr.... DEFEND????

Hey Newgrounds!

I'd need a few knowledgeable and talkative beta-testers for my upcoming game.
The game is a turn-based chaotic strategy game in which you recruit an army of Orcs + Goblins to face waves of enemy attacks.

The game is 90% completed, missing a few artworks here and there (nothing that impairs gameplay).
I need feedback and advices on how to complete the game in a way that will be more appealing to potential gamers.

Please respond to this thread and I will pm you a link to the game.

Thanks for considering my request.

Nah! That's not a pic of Madonna
And that's neither Lady Gaga
At the pace of the War Drum
The Legions march, here they come
Beyond the hills, their stomps we hear
The smell of flesh, the smell of fear

A quick digital painting I prepared for the menu screen of my upcoming game.
The game's gonna be about... wait for it ...wait for it... orcs and goblins.
I know, what a shock, eh?

Enhorabuena EspaƱa para la victoria en el World Cup!!!
A golden star will be adorning the Spaniards shirts for years to come :)

Congratulation to all my Dutch friends as well. Loss in final is nothing to be ashamed of.

USA, France... well suck it!

Hey Fellow Newgrounders,

Are you also following this Apple vs Adobe saga? As you may know, this has led some pundits to announce the death of Flash. While I do not support this claim, I sometimes get concerned over the future of Flash-based webgames. I found this new article to be of interest and thought I could share:

Anyway, Jazza's most recent games are so awesome that they should bolster our confidence that Flash is not dead...yet. Feel free to leave serious and non-serious thoughts :)

Hey there,

I am so disappointed !!! I guess I've been bad this year because Santa didn't bring me what I really wanted for Xmas : A GIRLFRIEND.

Oh! I was not asking much: I didn't have any preferences for hair color, height or weight.
I would have been satisfied with any girl next door that likes hamburgers, that is a bit nerdy, enjoy skating and had fun playing the three episodes of Jack French. Gosh, I would even be happy with Lindsay Lohan... see, I am not that difficult !

The fact that I asked for said girlfriend to come out of a layered cake might have proved a deal breaker, I dunno.

In the meantime, I'll continue to spend my Saturday nights on Newgrounds and /or drawing fat kids riding unicorns above a rainbow.

I wish you all the best for the new Year, including a new girlfriend if you want one.

I know it's late but I finally did it: I just submitted my first two illustrations, thereby jumping on the Art Portal bandwagon!

These two illustrations consist of simple character designs (vector art)... but they do make a statement: that I am personally satisfied when I can print a screenshot of my games and display it as an art piece.
You'll find that apparent in the Jack French and Agent Scarecrow series...

Anyway, expect more meaningful pieces in the future!

Funny note, these were drawn with a mouse or trackpad (hence the shaky lines)!!

Oh! And we all know that Santa is Canadian and diabetic, right? I am going out with his daughter (below)

Art Portal... Also, Santa Claus is diabetic!

Hey,

I published the second installment of the Agent Scarecrow series last night.
Since it was pushed out of the "latest submissions" list quite rapidly, I thought I would make a post to announce the release... without any fanfare trumpets though!

So here it is:

PLAY AS#2 NOW !!!
